HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The complex of buildings at ul. Jagiellońska 63/64 in Szczecin, where Fabryka Wódek is located, was established between 1862 and 1863. At that time, the Victoria Brewery was run in that place. From the very beginning the company was systematically expanded. Between 1922 and 1924 the brewery was adapted to become a vodka factory by an old Szczecin company C.W. Kemp operating within Ruckforthb group, the leader in the then fermentation, brewing and spirits industry in Pomerania and Brandenburg.

After the World War II, in January 1946, the factory was formally taken over by Państwowy Monopol Spirytusowy. Although the factory buildings have not been destroyed during wartime, all equipment and technology archives have been removed. Nevertheless, in March 1946 production on manual production tables was started.

The production was growing rapidly, not only new storage facilities were being built, but also the existing buildings were being adapted to the production requirements. The number of factory workers has increased to 300. In 1964, automation of production processes took place. 4 production lines have been installed in the plant, which have been subject to a systematic modernization.

The second stage of the expansion and modernization of the machine park took place in the second half of the 1970’s. In parallel with the development of production automation, the technology of vodka production was also being developed. In addition to the production of the most popular and well-known Polish vodkas a number of concepts for the new highest quality products was developed.

The factory is specialized in the production of natural vodkas that require many years of aging such as Starka, brandy, whiskey, slivovitz and calvados.
